KUSEMA AT A GLANCE
Similar to the longstanding Toastmasters educational organization, Kusema (pronounced Kew-seem-a) strives to help African American tween and teen males improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. This program consists of communication and leadership projects designed to help this segment of young adults learn the arts of speaking, listening, thinking and leading.

Making A Difference
MONTHLY WORKSHOPS
Guest Speakers and Practical Application of Tools
Each month, participants attend one meeting with a guest speaker who is an expert in an area of writing, public speaking, artist, politician, musician and education. These fields of work were selected to give participants a vast understanding of orators and leaders from various backgrounds.
In addition to the workshops, participants will work monthly towards a goal of presenting his own body of work at Kusema's end of year culmination and celebration event.
MONTHLY MEET UPS
Age Level Specific
To reinforce the lessons learned and give participants an opportunity to work along side peers for their culmination project, Kusema mentors host monthly meet ups with participants by age levels - 8 to 12, 13 to 15 and 16 to 18.
Through Kusema, young men learn by experience to find their voice and over time gain the confidence, speaking and leadership skills to be poised, articulate and clear communicators at home, school and in their communities.
